The ABCs of Sales:

A Simple Framework for Women Entrepreneurs Who Want to Grow

By April Adams Pertuis, Founding Member of The Prosper Network

If there’s one thing I hear over and over again from women entrepreneurs, it’s this: “I love what I do, but I really struggle with sales.”

Sound familiar?

You’re not alone. Many professional women I coach are incredibly gifted at what they do. They’re experts in their fields, passionate about helping people, and often visibility isn’t the only hurdle—they also need a simple, non-intimidating way to think about sales.

That’s why I love teaching the ABC Sales Framework. It’s easy to remember, easy to apply, and it works across every type of business. Whether you’re a coach, consultant, speaker, author, or service-based entrepreneur, these three steps will help you create momentum in your sales process.

A = Attract

The first step in sales is making sure the right people actually know you exist. Visibility is the name of the game here. If your dream clients don’t know who you are, they can’t buy from you. It’s as simple as that.

Think of attraction as your visibility engine. This can look like:

  • Speaking on stages or podcasts

  • Posting consistently on social media

  • Networking at events

  • Building collaborations with peers in your industry

The key here is intentionality. Don’t try to be everywhere—focus on showing up where your dream clients are already spending time.

👉 Ask yourself: “Where are my dream clients hanging out, and how am I showing up there consistently?”

B = Build

Once you’ve attracted new people into your world, the real magic happens in the building phase. This is where you nurture those relationships and build trust.

Here’s the truth: most people won’t buy the first time they hear about you. They need to get to know you, see your expertise, and feel your authenticity before they’re ready to say yes.

You build by:

  • Sharing value-packed content (blogs, podcasts, emails, social posts)

  • Telling stories that connect on a human level

  • Following up and staying in touch

  • Creating a community where people feel seen and supported

When you consistently build trust, you’re not just selling a product or service—you’re establishing yourself as the go-to person in your space.

👉 Ask yourself: “What am I doing to consistently build credibility and deepen trust with the people I’ve already attracted?”

C = Convert

Here’s where many women entrepreneurs hesitate. We’re natural nurturers, great at giving value, but when it comes to asking for the sale, we freeze.

Conversion doesn’t have to be sleazy or pushy. In fact, it’s simply about making a clear invitation. You’ve attracted the right people, you’ve built a relationship, and now you offer them the opportunity to go deeper with you.

This might look like:

  • Extending a personal invitation to your program or service

  • Giving people a clear “next step” CTA in your emails or posts

  • Having sales conversations where you confidently share your pricing and offer

If you’ve done the work of A and B, C becomes natural. Conversion is just the next step in a relationship you’ve already built.

👉 Ask yourself: “Am I giving people clear next steps to work with me—and am I making enough invitations?”

Which Letter Needs Your Focus?

The beauty of the ABC Framework is that you can use it like a diagnostic tool.

  • If you’re not getting enough leads → strengthen your Attraction.

  • If people are finding you but not sticking around → strengthen your Building.

  • If you’re great at creating content but not making money → strengthen your Conversion.

When you understand where the breakdown is, you can focus your energy in the right place and start seeing results.

Final Thought

Sales doesn’t have to feel heavy or complicated. By breaking it down into Attract, Build, Convert, you’ll have a roadmap to follow that’s both simple and effective.

So let me ask you: Which letter of the ABC Sales Framework do you most need to work on right now?
