Why the Right Community Changes Everything

“I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives
For a reason
Bringing something we must learn…”
These lyrics from For Good in the musical Wicked, have been favorites of mine since the first time I heard them. And somehow, every time that song comes on, it hits a little differently.
With the recent release of the Wicked: For Good movie, I’ve found myself replaying the song and really listening to the words. It’s made me realize just how true they feel - not just in life, but in business too.
When I look back on the people I’ve met through different jobs, seasons, and connections over the years, I can see how so many of them have played a role in my life.
Some people taught me something specific. Some helped me grow in ways I didn’t even realize at the time. And some taught me lessons by showing me how I didn’t want to show up.
And that matters too.
Sometimes the lesson is obvious right away. Other times, it takes a little distance (and hindsight) to understand why that person crossed your path in the first place.
Another line from the song that always gets me is:
“We are led to those who help us most to grow, if we let them.”
That last part matters. If we let them.
Growth usually means being open - open to feedback, new ideas, different perspectives, and sometimes a little discomfort. But when we’re willing to lean into that, the right people tend to show up at exactly the right time.
That’s how being part of The Prosper Network has felt for me.
It’s been less about networking for the sake of networking, and more about real conversations and real relationships. The kind where you feel supported, encouraged, challenged (in a good way), and genuinely seen. As a founding member, I can honestly say I’ve grown because of the people in that space.
And just like the song says, it goes both ways. We learn from each other. We support each other. We help each other grow.
If you’re craving more authentic connections in 2026 - there’s a seat at the table for you at The Prosper Network. I truly believe that the right people tend to find each other when the timing is right. Sometimes, they come into our lives…for a reason. 💚
