Why Human Connection Matters Even More in the Era of AI
By Sandy Sidhu, ads specialist at Sandy Sidhu Media
These days everywhere you look people are championing AI.
From: “AI wrote my sales page”
To: “AI planned my dinner!”
AI is beyond a buzz word and impacting many industries and the way we interact online.
But between the AI videos looking eerily realistic…and the AI lifestyle photo shoots..
There’s something else that is brewing: Fatigue.
Yes, AI has increased the capacity of many businesses and allowed us to create and experiment at speeds never seen before.
But there’s also a lot more AI “slop”- content that seems superficial and not particularly thought out.
Because content is much easier and faster to produce, the perceived value in it is diminishing and more and more people are “red-flagging” things as written by AI when often they are not.
And that’s where I think networking stands out and offers relief to those of us who are feeling overwhelmed by “Everything AI”.
One of the online networking groups that I am a part of is called The Prosper Network.
The Prosper Network offers weekly online speed networking events where you connect in small groups and is built on the idea of reciprocity, generosity and expansion.
Attendees are encouraged to share an “ASK” (for example, something they want more eyes on) and a “GIVE” (something they can share with attendees eg. a podcast interview spot).
Last week, I attended one of the speed networking events and brought up a question around memberships and launching and really appreciated the varied perspectives I got.
Actual experience and numbers around what was working now and things I could try.
Could AI give me that? Possibly but there’s also a good chance that I would get “confirmation bias” and be told what I wanted to hear or get into a spiral with tons of options that I might not need.
I'm not anti-AI. I use it daily in my business. But I'm also noticing that as everyone uses AI for everything, actual conversations hit different.
When I'm stuck, when I need a reality check, or when I'm making a big decision? I want to talk to other people who've been there.
If you're craving that kind of connection too, I'd love to see you at the next Prosper Network event! And I promise it will be me - not my AI avatar ;)
