It's Not That You've Lost It. It's That You've Outgrown It.

For a long time, I believed my story was too boring to tell.
I would watch other people talk about their work with this ease, this shine, and I would quietly decide that mine was the ordinary one. Nothing worth leading with. So I kept myself small without ever calling it that. I just called it being practical.
I'm telling you this because I know the feeling underneath it, and I think you might know it too.
It's the feeling you get when the things that used to work start to go quiet. The post that would have landed a year ago gets crickets. The offer that used to sell needs three follow-ups now. The words that once felt like you suddenly feel like a costume. And slowly, without deciding to, you start to wonder if the problem is your business. Or worse, if the problem is you.
Well, here's the thing. It's almost never either one.
What's actually happening
When resonance fades, we reach for the most personal explanation available. We assume we've lost our touch, that our best days are behind us, that everyone else figured out something we missed. It feels like a verdict.
But look at what actually moved while you weren't watching.
The world changed. The way people find you, the platforms they trust, the tone that feels honest to them now versus five years ago. All of it shifted under your feet.
Your customer changed. The person you built this for has grown up, moved on, or wants something different than they did when you first learned to speak to them.
And you changed. This is the one we forget. You've grown. You've become more of who you are. You know things now that you didn't know when you wrote your website, named your offer, or decided how to introduce yourself at a dinner.
So of course it feels off. You are three moving parts trying to line up while all three keep moving. That's not a sign anything is broken. That's a sign you're alive and paying attention.
You built your brand for who you were. You've become someone more. The quiet you're feeling is just the gap between the two.
The part that changes everything
Years ago, before any of this, I spent a decade as a documentary photographer working alongside social enterprises, helping women who had been overlooked tell their own stories. My whole job was to help someone see the beauty and power already inside them, especially when they couldn't see it themselves.
I don't carry a camera into that work anymore. I carry brand strategy. The tool changed completely. The mission never moved an inch.
That's what I want you to hold onto. You are allowed to grow, evolve, and pick up entirely new tools without losing who you are. In fact, the growth is the point. The disorientation you're feeling isn't proof you've drifted from yourself. It's proof you've expanded past the old container.
So the work in front of you is not fixing yourself. Please hear that. There is nothing to fix.
The work is two gentle moves.
First, ground yourself in who you actually are now. Not who you were when you started. Not who you think you're supposed to be. The real, current, more-expansive you.
Second, realign with the people you're talking to. Who are they now. What do they want most. Where are you meeting them, and how does it feel to be on the other side of it.
That's it. Re-ground, then realign. You do this not once, but as a rhythm, because you and your people will keep growing, and the alignment will keep needing your attention. That's not a burden. That's the actual work of building something that stays alive.
Where to start
If you're sitting in that quiet right now, wondering if it's you, I want to offer you a first mirror instead of one more thing to fix.
I built a Brand Scorecard for exactly this moment. It's a simple, honest look at where your brand is clear and where it's fallen out of step with who you've become. Not a grade. Not a verdict. Just a place to see the gap plainly, so you can start closing it from a grounded place instead of a panicked one.
You haven't lost your spark. You've grown past the shape it used to fit in.
I see what you don't see. And I promise, it's still all there.
